FREE Bicton College Taster Days
For under 19 year olds.
The Bicton Taster Days are for students in years 9 and 10, currently at school (or being home tutored) and want to experience a taste of life as a Bicton student for the day. If you are in Year 11 and know which subject area you are interested in studying, you may prefer to book a place on a Course Advice Day and speak to the tutors about the right course for you.
The day runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
The purpose of your day with us is first to have fun, but second to find out about the range of vocational courses that we offer and how the work experience you gain will be invaluable when you come to look for a job in your chosen career.

Tour of the Campus
You will take a tour around Bicton College campus and its estate. You are sure to be impressed by the size and the facilities that we have here.
Activities
When you register to attend you will be asked to choose 3 out of 8 activities; these are typical practical activites that students do at Bicton College on a day-to-day basis.
If you decide to become a Bicton College student you will have the advantage of being able to apply lots of knowledge gained in the classroom to hands-on experience, whether it is in one of the four workshops that we have, in the animal care centre, on the farm or in the fields.
Choose from:
- Metal work and engineering (you can even take your own creation home with you!
- Animal Experience - take a tour and meet Lemurs, reptiles, aquatics, exotics and find out how we look after them
- Horse Husbandry - visit our BHS approved equestrian centre and have-a-go at stripping and cleaning tack or grooming and mucking out
- Horticulture design and practice - visit our gardens and glasshouses and try your hand at practical gardening
- High Ropes / climbing wall - just hang around for an hour on our outdoor adventure equipment
- Countryside Management- our expert countryside team will show you how to make a bird box or show you the ancient art of hedgelaying
- Tractor Driving - ever got behind the wheel of a tractor? Well today you will get the chance
Lunch
Please provide a packed-lunch.
Farewell but hopefully not Goodbye
At the end of the day we will all meet up again to give feedback. You will also be given a certificate as a souvenir of your day and a goodie bag.
Come by yourself, with friends or as a group, for example with your school or Connexions. There will be lots of other people here with you.
