Thinking of changing career or adding a new dynamic to a current one? If you are interested in passing on your skills to others through teaching, Bicton College has the course for you.
This introductory course, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS), will give you an opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, imagination and understanding that you will need for teaching/training in post-16 education. It is suitable for those who work or want to work as teachers in the lifelong learning sector; technicians and support staff in further and adult education and training.
Teacher Training Coordinator Vicky Browne said, ‘This is an excellent introductory qualification that can lead to higher level teaching qualifications, and is a basic requirement for anyone intending to deliver training.’
The course covers the responsibilities and boundaries of the tutor’s role in supporting learning and in relation to teaching; appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area; session planning skills; how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners and the use of different assessment methods.
The 12 week part-time course is held on Mondays from Monday 26th April until 12th July from 2.00pm – 5.00pm.
