Apprenticeships are designed by businesses in your sector to meet the needs of your business. This means the training is always relevant and is tailored to the needs of your sector by people who genuinely understand what you do.
Apprentices work towards gaining a nationally-recognised framework qualification and learn through a combination of on and off-the- job learning: on-the-job they would work alongside your staff; off-the-job they would complete the work necessary to produce a portfolio of evidence, any training required for underpinning knowledge or additional qualifications would be provided at College either on a block or day release basis.
A government guarantee provides fully funded Apprenticeships places for all 16-18 year olds as this is the normal age group when apprentices are taken on by employers and in certain circumstances extends this to young people aged 19-25 who have been disadvantaged from starting an apprenticeship earlier.
Limited places are also available to for those aged over 19 who are in employment, it is never too late for a member of your staff to obtain
Apprenticeship status and an individual approach allows for the recognition of current skills and previous experience while at the same time providing any training that may be required in up skilling or for gaps in existing knowledge. The government provide the majority of the funding for those over the age of 19 who are sponsored by their employer and any employer contribution may be waived where the employer has a qualified assessor in place.
