For aspiring engineers wishing to enter the mechanical engineering industry. This course gives a good entry into Land-based Engineering Level 2
The learning programme aims to develop your knowledge of engineering fundamentals by means of practical assignments together with group discussions and lectures. Work-based learning and study visits are integrated into the programme. Practical work in the College workshops is an important part of the programme – showing you how the principles are applied to the types of machines and processes used in industry.
You will be assessed through a variety of methods including assignments, tests and practical tasks.
Learners can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Land-Based Technology after achieving an appropriate grade for the programme, or enter an apprenticeship programme in agriculture, plant and horticultural service engineering. Owing to the broad base of the programme, career opportunities can be found in a very wide job market. Previous learners have found employment in engineering with agricultural/horticultural tool firms, agricultural dealers and contractors and commercial vehicle repair.
