    Programme Aims

    The course enables young people to gain experience in the industry, whilst gaining further qualifications to improve their floristry skills and knowledge.


    Entry Requirements

    You will need to have achieved the following:

     

    •  Initial Assessment results should show that you are working towards Level 1
    •  Relevant work experience and knowledge of your chosen industry
    •  A suitable work placement (we can help to find you one)

     

    In addition, it would be helpful if you have the following:


    •   GCSEs (Grades A–C) or equivalents
    •   A good reference

     


    Course Structure

    This NVQ Level 2 course requires attendance on a day release basis during term time.

    What you will study

    • Bridal flowers
    • Conditioning and care of floristry materials
    • Customer service and complaints
    • Flower arrangements
    • Plant care and identification
    • Sympathy flowers
    • Tied designs
    • Window displays and promotion

     

    The following functional skills are studied alongside this NVQ:

    • Application of number (Level 1)
    • Communication (Level 1)
    • Information Technology (Level 1)

    Assessment

    Assessment will predominantly be carried out in the workplace. It will consist of the observation of practical skills, checking written work and oral questioning.


    Progression

    Apprentices may progress to Advanced Apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 in Floristry or the Level 3 Diploma in Floristry. Alternatively, successful learners might work within the industry as a qualified florist, either in their own, or an already established, floristry business.
