City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants
Who is the course aimed at?
This is a brand new course for Bicton and is suitable for anyone wishing to pursue a career within the dog grooming industry. It will be necessary to have experience of dog grooming and ideally a certificate such as a basic dog grooming/clipping and stripping course or achieving a BTEC grooming unit at level 2 or 3.
There are only 8 places available. There will be a practical assessment day on Wednesday 4th January 2012 to ensure that applicants are suitable for the course and the course is suitable for them.
What will students do on the course?
You will learn how to assess a range of dogs for temperament, body language and will also complete health checks. As part of the practical techniques you will learn correct lifting, how to control and restrain dogs, wash, groom and dry them. Grooming will include learning about grooming equipment, practical grooming out of knots and mats, shampooing, drying and maintenance of equipment
What is good about the course?
The course will give you a City and Guilds qualification in dog grooming. You will gain the practical skills, confidence and knowledge required to assess temperament and prepare a range of dogs for bathing, grooming and drying.
What is different about the course?
This is a practical, hands on course with much of the content based doing practical work with a range of dogs in the grooming room at Bicton College.
What will students get out of the course?
The maximum class size will be 8 so you will get lots of opportunity to practice and get the most out of your tutor and the course.
How will I be assessed?
There will be practical and written assessments and an online test
Progression. What can students do after the course?
You could progress onto a level L3 dog grooming course.
Course dates:
Held on the following days:
Fridays 9am-4.30pm in term time excluding bank holidays
Cost:
16-18 students are not charged
19+ students will need to pay £715 tuition fees and a registration fee of £65 (in the event of examination re-sits there may be a need to charge a re-sit fee)
