Making it easy for YOU to travel to US
We know that Transport to and from ANY College can be tricky. That’s why, here at Bicton College we are doing all we can to make it easy and simple for you to get to us. Whether it be by bus, train, minibus or your own transport. We can assist in the organisation of it and we may even pay some of the transport costs too.
Certain eligibility criteria applies for each and every option and equally funding eligibility criteria applies too . However, if you meet the criteria then you can expect help every step of the way.
What options are available?
The following options are available to enable you to travel to/from Bicton College. Below are the Transport options available. Click the option to see how we can help and assist along with the criteria.
Devon County Council Bus Service (16-18 year olds)
Devon County Council operate bus services throughout the County for 16-18 year old Students. This year the cost for this is a flat rate of £500 per student.
As set by Devon County Council. Apply to the Council to use this service and if you meet the criteria, also apply to our “Discretionary Fund” for financial assistance.
If you live outside of Devon – apply using our “Sponsored Seat form” instead to use the bus service. Also apply to our “Discretionary Fund” for financial assistance.

Devon County Council Bus Service (19+ year olds)
Devon County Council are not obliged to help with transport to/from Bicton if you are 19+ years of age. But we can still help.

Devon County Council “Wheels to Learn” Service
Devon “Wheels to Learn” is a moped loan scheme for students, aged 16–19 only, who have a firm offer of full time further education that they are unable to reach by public transport. See the website for more details and application forms.

Devon County Council Car Share Scheme
For those students over 18 years of age who may wish to register for this scheme, car sharing is a great way to solve the transport problem if you live in a remote area. Please see the website for more details and application forms:

Using your own Transport
Many Students use their own transport to get to/from Bicton.
If this applies to you then you’ll be pleased to hear that we have plenty of FREE onsite parking and we may be able to help with some of your petrol costs too!

What Financial Help can I receive?
The College is committed to helping Students travel to Bicton but we also understand that travelling has it’s own costs associated with it.
Therefore, we use our Discretionary Fund to help assist with your travel costs The same Discretionary Fund can also be used to help pay for other course costs too.

Please note the Discretionary Fund does not provide assistance with course tuition fees (sorry).
Please note that since Devon County Council transport is available to 16-18 year old students, we will only consider help with petrol costs if you live in a remote area away from any available bus route.
