The Cornwall College Group provides university level study for around 1,400 learners annually, nearly 70% from Cornwall and half from areas least likely to be represented in HE.
We have worked in partnership with Plymouth University since 1978 and as a founding partner of the innovative Combined Universities in Cornwall, have played a significant role in shaping the educational landscape of the region.
In 2016 the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) was introduced by the Government to recognise, reward and improve teaching excellence in Higher Education providers across the UK
A TEF panel reviewed provider metrics and submissions and awarded us a Silver status- meaning that The Cornwall College Group ‘consistently exceeds rigorous national quality requirements for UK Higher Education’
TEF said: “Cornwall College’s metrics, supplemented by the submission, indicate that the majority of students achieve excellent outcomes, particularly in regard to highly skilled employment. The metrics indicate very high levels of student satisfaction with teaching, academic support, and assessment and feedback.”
The TEF panel also found that we had a “highly positive impact on the region, particularly on participation rates and employability outcomes”.
Furthermore, it highlighted the Group’s:
- “strategic approach to monitoring, review and quality improvement”
- “high quality of teaching”
- “highly valued personalised learning support for students”
- “extensive and consistent involvement of employers in the design, review and assessment of courses”
Dr Mark Nason said “I am thrilled that those who choose to study with us have signalled their high satisfaction with the teaching and learning they receive. It is also great to see that our Career College ethos is confirmed once again, with TEF highlighting the progression that students make to skilled employment. The Cornwall College Group is a fantastic place to study university-level courses and I would like to thank everybody involved in delivering and supporting HE within the group for their contribution to our TEF award.”
