Thank you for your enquiry regarding the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing. This qualification is designed for anyone with a working knowledge of marketing. This means that you could have a degree in a non-related discipline or a formal marketing or business qualification at level 3 (BTEC or A-level). In addition, experience of operational marketing is desirable. This course would also be suitable for you if you have accrued extensive experience in marketing practice but have no formal related qualifications.

You are already in a marketing role or aspire to work in marketing.
You must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor Degree in any subject
- Age 19 or over with a minimum of two years full time work experience in Marketing
- CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing
- Degree level short course in Effective Marketing
The course structure for the 2017-2018 academic year is as follows:
- 12 weeks per module
- Six taught sessions at the start of each module
- Six self-study/revision weeks prior given to prepare for the assessment at the end of the module
- Taught sessions are 1.30pm - 5.30pm on a Tuesday afternoon
- Modules run September - December; January - March; April - June
- Modules can be studied in any order - it is not compulsory to start in September
- Each module is a qualification in its own right, so can be studied as an individual course. All three modules are required to obtain the full marketing Certificate.
The study group consists of a small number of marketers working in a wide variety of organisations.
This module is about recognising the importance of marketing’s role in driving success and delivering results. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the function of marketing within the organisation and demonstrates how an appreciation of customer behaviour can enable effective targeting. It outlines an understanding of how external environmental influences affect planning and how information enables decision making. It outlines the elements of the marketing mix and how these are applied to address market and customer needs.
This module aims to enable understanding of the importance of effective internal and external communications in building sustainable relationships and delivering customer value. It provides the opportunity to recognise the importance of communications planning in delivering marketing solutions. It explains how the concept of product and brand management can enable organisations to deliver customer value. It outlines the components of the marketing communications mix and enables understanding of integrated marketing communications (IMC) planning.
This module is about appreciating the importance of the ever-evolving, dynamic digital landscape, and understanding how to develop skills to improve digital marketing effectiveness. It provides awareness of the nature of the challenges and opportunities within the digital environment and outlines the skills and tools required to support and enhance marketing activities. It identifies the importance of effective digital monitoring and measurement techniques that enable organisations to improve digital marketing effectiveness performance.
The Certificate can be studied in its entirety or in a modular format, giving learners the opportunity to study for one of three modules at a time at various points throughout the academic year.
Each module is £550 each but there is a 5% discount for paying for the whole course.
In addition to your course fees you pay CIM direct for your studying membership at £50 for the year and each module assessment costs. Additional course books or materials will need to be purchased by the learner.
CIM have a requirement that all students should do a diagnostic test to make sure they have sufficient baseline knowledge to complete the course successfully. There are 40 knowledge based questions and each question will require one answer. At the end of the assessment the appropriate level qualification will be recommended.
