The Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice is a broad-based, practical introduction to law and legal practice, and forms the first academic stage in the process of becoming a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer.
You have completed the Certificate in Law & Practice and who wish to achieve full membership of the Institute of Legal Executives.
There are no formal entry requirements for either qualification, however CILEx does recommend that students have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades C or above (including English language or literature) or equivalent qualifications.
The qualification comprises ten units; including seven mandatory units which cover the key 'Foundation' subjects of: Introduction to Law and Practice, Law of Tort, Land Law, Client Care Skills, Legal Research Skills, Criminal Law, Contract Law, and three further units from identified legal pathways, which include at least two Legal Practice units, linked to studied law subjects.
To gain a defined route to chartered Legal Executive status.
On successful completion of the programme you will become a specialist in a wide area of law and practice.
CILEx Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice provides progression to:
- CILEx Level 6 Certificate in Law, which is aimed at those who do not wish to go on to become full Chartered Legal Executive Lawyers but who want recognition for their skills in a specific professional area of law and practice.
- CILEx Level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice, which is the final academic stage towards becoming a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer.
- A degree in Law/Graduate Diploma in Law (for those who want to become a solicitor).
The CILEx route to Chartered Legal Executive status also offers exemptions towards learners going on to become solicitors.
