If you wish to pursue a career in sustainable construction, building surveying, building control, quantity surveying, civil engineering, structural engineering or construction management; or if you would like to be involved with the design, production or management of structured buildings, then this programme is for you.

The FdSc Construction & the Built Environment is designed to meet the demands of industry and offers you the opportunity to study subjects in depth including: Advanced Site Surveying, Advanced Project Planning, Heritage Refurbishment and Sustainable Construction. In Year 1 you will study traditional and contemporary construction and civil engineering subjects and in Year 2 you will be given the opportunity to further develop applied skills in project cost studies or legal studies, dependent on your needs or the needs of your employer or work experience provider.

On completion of the programme you will be more versatile, more employable, multi-skilled and professionally competent in your chosen career. A variety of different teaching styles enables you to learn in an effective manner, ensuring that you have the right knowledge and skills to excel in the workplace. The programme will also equip you with communication, team working and time management skills, making you a more effective student and employee.

Entry Requirements

48 UCAS points (32 from A2 Level preferably in a maths, science, engineering or design technology subject). Plus GCSEs at grade C or above in English and maths.
