If you’ve been out of formal education for some time, but are interested in developing your academic skill set with a view to progressing to a level 3 course then this course is for you. Designed to underpin the range of Access courses we offer, it will help you to develop the academic skills necessary to progress in a supportive environment.
You want to work towards realising your career goal, or if you want to extend your knowledge and understanding of working within an academic environment. This course will be enable you to bridge any gaps there may have been in your formal education and introduce you to a broad range of subject areas.
Although there aren't any specific entry requirements, all applicants will be invited to attend an interview where full course information is given.
Valuable academic skills such as how to research effectively and how to write an informative academic essay.
You will use your academic skills to explore, research and discuss subjects as diverse as: Prejudice & Discrimination to Physiology & Exercise, preparing you for progression onto an Access pathway.
The course runs from September to June/July and you'll be expected to attend college 2 days per week. You'll also need to complete a minimum of 15 hours of independant study per week.
