This level 6 top-up programme leads to an honours degree and a Professional Counselling Supervision qualification. It is therefore only suitable for candidates who have an HE Level 5 professional qualification in Counselling.
The degree offers 3 core modules which are, exploring group facilitation, producing a literature review essay on a research topic of your choice for independent study, and looking at prejudice, diversity and social issues within counselling.
The remaining 3 modules address different aspects of counselling supervision, and it is the completion of these, that leads to the additional professional qualification as a Counsellor Supervisor. The requirement for studying these supervision modules is:
- You must hold a minimum of an HE Level 5 professional qualification in counselling
- You must have 1 years clinical counselling practise post qualification
The programme can be studied on a full-time basis (2 days a week) for 1 year for those with the HE Level 5 and 1 years post qualification work experience.
The programme can also be studied on a part-time basis (1 day a week) for 2 years for those who are recently qualified with an HE Level 5. The core modules are studied in the first year and the supervision modules are studied in the second year.
You will be assessed through a variety of activities including essays, presentations and research study.
