City & Guilds Dog Grooming Diploma Level 3

Level 3 • Work-based • Animal management & Veterinary Nursing department

You will gain the practical skills and knowledge that are important for working as a professional dog groomer. You could be a self-employed dog groomer working in your own salon, work for a business alongside other dog groomers or another animal related business, or you could purchase a franchise, working for yourself but as part of a larger organisation. You could be based in a salon or be a mobile dog groomer working with clients and their dogs in their own home or from a fully fitted van. This qualification is ideal for anyone wishing to have a career in dog grooming. You may have been working as a dog groomer for a while and would now like to complete a nationally recognised qualification or be working as a bather for a salon and wish to progress further.

Animal Care Certificate

Level 2 • Full-time • Animal management & Veterinary Nursing department

This Level 2 Animal Care course is ideal if you have some interest in animals and would like to learn about working in the industry, or progressing onto further studies. It is good starting point for your career with animals. Caring for animals can be an extremely fulfilling and rewarding career. From working in kennels and catteries to pet shops, rescue centres or sanctuaries, there is a wide range of careers available on successful completion of your course. With access to animal collections on campus you will gain the practical training you need to pursue a career in this exciting industry. You will study a combination of theory and practical work, and can expect to spend time both at college and in a work experience placement of your choice. You will also have the opportunity to go on field trips to local zoos, wildlife parks and animal sanctuaries. You will need to purchase PPE to wear during your practical sessions. More information about what PPE will be required will be provided upon application.
