This 1 year top up programme is unique and very distinctive in offering high level training in interoperability. In 2012 the Government formed the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) to address the recommendations and findings from a number of major incident reports, which stressed the need for all the services involved in planning for and in responding to emergencies, to co-operate in a more effective manner.
The development of interoperability is pivotal so that the emergency services can respond to the increasing challenges facing the modern world. On completion of this programme you will have credible graduate level skills and knowledge, in addition to relevant work experience, enabling you to both enter into and then rapidly advance through into leadership positions within your chosen professions.
The programme content will look at the current challenges faced by the emergency services and sector in moving towards more cohesive and interoperable methods of working in an uncertain world. These include the issues around modern day terrorism, the requirements for organisational change within the emergency sector to meet these demands and to ensure greater effectiveness in joint working. People and workforce management issues will also be included in the programme content where relevant models and theories will be examined and appraised.
