Focussing upon the fundamental practical skills in horticulture, the learner will be able to learn skills such as planting out, preparing ground, plant maintenance techniques.

An Award in Practical Horticulture Skills is for adult learners (19+) and adults getting started in the horticulture industry. Or you might be working in a horticulture job and want to improve your skills. You don't need any previous experience or a current work placement.

This level will suit you if you've developed a real interest in Horticulture and want to either progress into work, progress from Level 1 to other related horticulture qualifications, or if you have a passion for learning more about horticulture and developing your skills and knowledge further.

The qualification is taken as part-time learning from Dartington.

The Level 2 Award in Felling Trees up to 380mm takes places over 5 days. The first 4 days consist of training and assessment is on the 5th day. Applicants must be over 16 years of age and hold a valid NPTC Certificate of Competence: CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance. Proof of pre-qualifications must be emailed/posted to the college before the course start date as evidence.
