This course follows on from the knowledge you have learnt from the Introduction Eco Friendly course. It will expand your knowledge by looking at different ways to create designs without the use of any floral foam, and explain how to keep wastage to a bare minimum.

  What You Will Learn

To create designs for various occasions and gain knowledge of which flowers and foliages are best to use . How to care and condition the materials . You will develop a portfolio of creative work throughout the course.

This Level 1 course will take place within Powderham Castles walled garden, on the beautiful Powderham Estate near Exeter, Devon. It is a great introduction for those who want to grow on any scale, whether it is a small patio garden, an allotment or on a larger piece of land. The School Farm site hosts a range of enterprises from vegetable growers to therapeutic horticulture and the course will be delivered by experienced growers and teachers from the enterprises. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in or some experience of gardening or plant knowledge, and can be enjoyed by enthusiastic beginners and more experienced gardeners alike. Students can expect 1 day a week of practical learning on the land in different seasons and weather conditions.

Creating Willow Sculptures

No Qualification • Part-time • Bicton College


Over the duration of this course you will create a variety of willow sculptures (eg Garden wigwams and hurdles ) and animals ranging from birds, sheep, reindeer and more. You can choose which animals you would like to create. Materials will be available for purchase and will cost approximately £15 per design. Please note: This course is for adults 19+ and applicants may be eligible for funding, please ask for more information.
