This course will guide you to either learn about, or improve your plaiting and show preparation skills.

Getting that perfect competition look is an art form and is all a part of the competition experience. We all want to be proud of our skills and our ability to make the horse look its best, this takes practice and to do it well, you need to understand the basics.

This course will help you to learn how to create a polished look and will give you hints and tips on what the pros do to perfect your skills.

This course will run from 09:30-16:00

Learn the basic skills to start your career working with Horses on our Level 1 Horse Care course. If your GCSEs were not what you expected, this course is an ideal starting point in order to progress onto Level 2. You will learn the basic skills and knowledge associated with horse care including: feeding, cleaning and exercising and general care. Caring for horses can be an extremely fulfilling and rewarding career and there are a wide range of options available on successful completion of your course. Our top class facilities include stabling for 24 horses, horse walker, solarium, and covered practical area, 20m x 60m indoor arena with viewing gallery and 30m x 60m outdoor arena. Equine First aid

This course is suitable for horse owners wishing to learn about applying first aid to their horse. Students will learn how to assess basic health and recognise when the horse is in poor health covering signs and symptoms, TPR, Wounds, Common ailments, lumps and bumps and what to have in your vet kit. If you are unsure how to recognise the signs of illness or what to do while awaiting a vet, then this course is suitable for you. Please ensure that you come wearing suitable clothing and yard footwear. Please also bring a riding hat and gloves for handling horses. This course is not suitable for complete novices, you must have some experience of handling horses to participate. This course will run from 09:30-16:30 Please note: this course is suitable for applicants aged 19+

An Introduction to Equine Anatomy and Physiology

This course will provide you with a basic introduction into horse anatomy and physiology, looking at the musculoskeletal system and considering the basics of how the horse moves, this course will also identify the location of the main organs and how they work.
