This course will enhance understanding, and enable successful students to legally spray their own land, or that of their employer, using Boom Mounted Sprayers.

The first day will consist of the PA1 theory training, with an online test in the afternoon. This covers the storage, handling and application of pesticides.
The second day is the PA2 Boom Mounted Sprayer training; with an allocated timeslot on the third day to take the PA2 assessment.
The qualification to be gained is a Level 2 City & Guilds lifetime-qualification.

The following PPE will be needed for the training.

Clean wellington boots (for the PA2)
Clean coverall spray suit (for the PA2)
Nitrile gloves (for the PA2)
Face Shield (for the PA2)

Skills Bootcamp – Agri-Tech Woodland Management

Skills Bootcamps - part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs. Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer. Working as a forester incorporates the art, science and practice of woodland establishment, maintenance and management, and timber harvesting. Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS) will be topical in the training and a focus on how learners can introduce carbon management and carbon foot printing and the tools required to help the industry achieve farm NET ZERO will be covered. Learners will identify the main forest and woodland tree species. On completion learners will better understand the timber supply chain including the roles of the Landowner, Forest Works Manager, Contractor and Agent. We will teach how to prepare sites for planting and/or natural regeneration including: maintain and repair open drainage systems, fencing and boundary features and infrastructure. Learners will also plant and care for trees as well as carrying out maintenance of chainsaw and cross-cut of felled timber to prepare for assessments at a later date.
