If you have a passion for working with animals, this introductory course is ideal for you. You will learn the basic skills and knowledge associated with caring for a wide range of animals including: feeding, cleaning and exercising. Our campuses are also home to a large variety of animals which include bearded dragons, snakes, pigs, tortoises, rats, rabbits, donkeys, poultry and cattle.

You are interested in caring for animals as a career.
GCSE English and maths at grade E or 2 and above.
The theory and practice of caring for a range of animals including small mammals, birds, and farm and park animals. You’ll cover topics such as handling and feeding animals, cleaning their accommodation, exercising and basic health care.
To study functional skills or GCSEs in English and mathematics. You’ll also develop your employability skills at college and in a work placement.
The chance to develop good practical skills with a range of animal species.
Continue your studies on a full-time course, such as our Animal Care City & Guilds Level 2, Zoo Animal Care Level 2, or an Animal Care Apprenticeship.
