An animal management apprenticeship will often be for those who have already successfully completed a relevant Level 2 provision and/or who hold appropriate employment, expertise and responsibilities performed within the workplace. You must be employed within the sector and display a strong interest in your job role, as well as being able to demonstrate enthusiasm and a strong determination to succeed as a recognised professional within industry.

You have already completed a relevant Level 2 qualification and you work in or would like to work in the animal management industry.
GCSEs in English and maths at grade D or 3. You'll also need an employer willing to hire you as an apprentice.
To further develop your animal management abilities in animal health, controlling and restraining animals, animal feeding and nutrition, breeding, monitoring and evaluating animal accommodation.
To spend one day each week on campus and the remaining four days in the workplace with your employer. You’ll also work towards a Level 2 functional skills qualification in English and mathematics.
Earning money while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
Improve your promotion prospects or progress to university study, such as our FdSc in Animal Health and Management.
Jo Challacombe Technician - Animal Management
Jo manages the care of a wide range of animals at Duchy College's Stoke Climsland animal care unit and supports students on further and higher education programmes, to give them the best hands-on learning experience. Jo originally trained in equitation science before broadening her experience into understanding the needs and behaviours of a range of animals from rats and snakes to centipedes and rabbits!
