Holly-Anne Drowne Level 3 Equine Apprenticeship
“I work as a groom and rider at Burrell Farm near Saltash, for renowned racehorse trainer Jackie du Plessis. At the yard we train point-to-point horses, national hunt racehorses and offer DIY livery so I get to do a bit of everything! I started my Level 3 Apprenticeship in October 2016 after completing my A-Levels, having always wanted to work in racing. Studying at Duchy College meant that I could stay locally and work, rather than having to go away to racing school for months at a time, plus I get to keep my own horse here at the yard. I am really enjoying my apprenticeship as I get to apply the theory I learn in college into practice straight away on the yard, and of course I’m doing something I love.”
