This course is a full-time, one year course for anyone who wants a broad introduction to the land-based horse care industry. Throughout the course you will develop skills and knowledge in a range of horse care disciplines.
You want to gain experience in the land-based sector, whilst improving on your life skills and gain qualifications for the future, ready for Level 2.
GCSE English and maths at grade E or 2, or equivalent qualifications at Entry Level 3. Plus a strong wish to work with horses, the countryside and the environment.
A range of practical stable management skills including feeding, handling, mucking out stables, recognising signs of good and poor health, grooming, tacking up and cleaning and maintaining horse tack.
Theory work and assignments, and it is highly recommended you attend a practical work placement within the industry one day a week.
Working under direct supervision of college staff, who will guide you with both your practical and written work.
Further study, an apprenticeship or work-based learning, supportive work or seek employment.
