You have limited horticulture knowledge and would like to learn practical skills whilst working towards a level 1 qualification.
GCSE English and Maths at grade E or above or an equivalent qualification. You will also need to have a keen interest in gardening and the environment.
A variety of horticulture-based tasks, including -
- Plant container grown subjects
- Prepare the ground for sowing or planting
- Prepare the soil and apply an organic mulch
- Water a bed border or area of plants in containers
- Identify weeds, pests and diseases
- Prepare and plant a hanging basket
- Care for a planted area
Your assignments and projects to be assessed throughout the course and to get your hands dirty!
Learning about all aspects of horticulture including polytunnels, raised beds and outdoors.
You may wish to further your knowledge and skills on a Work-based level 1 course, a level 2 course or consider an apprenticeship in a specific area of Horticulture.
