AA Rosette for St Austell restaurant

Cloisters Restaurant at Cornwall College St Austell has been awarded a Highly Commended AA College Rosette accreditation.  Inspectors were impressed by the commitment of the talented students and their lecturers.

The AA hotel services have been recognising and rating hospitality establishments for over 100 years and the AA’s Rosette award for cuisine has been one of the top awards hospitality establishments aim for; including educational environments such as colleges.

Head of College St Austell, Chris Taylor, said: “This is a great achievement for the team involved and for the college, having experienced myself the high quality experience that the catering team at Cloisters provide; I know that this award is well deserved.”

To achieve the Level 2 Highly Commended rating the team were observed by a professional AA Inspector on Service, Hospitality and the quality of the food.  The final report included praise to the student team on their presentation of dishes, intensity of flavours and the supervision from the more experienced students with their first year classmates.

Cloisters Restaurant Manager, Matt Bird, added:  “This is a great recognition of the students hard work but also it is has been a great opportunity for the students to experience what it is like to be inspected by a travel rating company such as the AA; since they will regularly be inspected in their future careers in the hospitality industry.”
