The successes and achievements of this year’s students at Cornwall College Saltash have been celebrated at an annual Student Excellence Awards Ceremony.
The special event saw students presented with a prize for the recognition of their hard work; watched by an audience of friends, family, lecturers and businesses.
Former Marine Academy Plymouth student Cory McNeil, who is has completed the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Professional Cookery, said the atmosphere “was amazing. Students and their families were all very proud to be nominated and win awards.”
“I feel very proud to be part of the Cornwall College Saltash family. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today and I’m certainly going to miss the tight friendly unit this college.”
The evening was opened by Head of College, Margaret Butfield, who spoke about the highlights of the College over the last 12 months and the exciting developments going forward including the opening of the new restaurant and additional Koko hair salon.
The Cornwall College Group Director, Sally Foard, and curriculum areas then went on to present the winners of the award for each department.

“All of our staff love to award those learners who have gone above and beyond the requirements of their qualifications. It is also great to invite our sponsors and the family and friends of our learners to such an enjoyable evening.”
Former Saltash.net student, Kyle Reed, who has been studying plumbing, said “I am really proud of what I have achieved.”
“I would definitely recommend studying plumbing at Cornwall College Saltash, the lecturers are really supportive. I have now got an apprenticeship with Baccs Property who are based in Plymouth.”
Learning Advisor, Tekhe Dan, who organised the event, said “we are proud to offer our learners the opportunity to revel in their success after they have worked so hard throughout the year.”

South East Cornwall MP, Sheryll Murray, who attended the celebrations said it was “so good to see the students achieve fantastic vocational qualifications.”
“I am pleased that many have begun their path into employment by securing apprenticeships. I was also like to pay tribute to the Head of College, tutors at staff at Cornwall College Saltash for the high standard of training they provide.”
