Award Winning Holiday Club comes to Cornwall College

Published: February 16, 2017

Go Active Cornwall, specialists in the delivery of alternative and traditional sports brings its award winning holiday club to Cornwall College.

For many years Go Active has been operating in lots of Cornish schools and communities, offering a wide range of activities to young people aged 8 to 12.

The holiday club which is very popular around the county has now been brought to West Cornwall.  The ethos is very simple, offer lots of really cool and fun sports at an affordable price for parents.

Ed Timmons, Area Manager, Go Active Cornwall said, “We’re very happy to be on-site at Cornwall College Camborne delivering our sports programme. The facilities here are second to none, the campus is close to 3 large towns, we’re already very active in some of the local schools and so it makes sense to have that continuation with children who know us in our PE sessions, with some extra curriculum activities during the holidays”.

“The sports hall is perfect for our holiday club, very large and well equipped; it even has its own climbing wall. Here we can offer lots of additional sports that aren’t in our normal programme like badminton, table tennis, basketball and a wonderfully large scale astro turf pitch.  They also have a dedicated dance studio space and we like to offer street dancing and the college ticks all the boxes”.

While at the club children can get involved in what interests them, the professional staff are flexible to the needs of the children and activities are rotated on a daily basis.

Nat Mitchel, Parent added, “It’s an amazing opportunity for my son to experience lots of new activities; the facilities on-site are great, it’s in a very safe and secure environment, the location is perfect and also affordable”.

“My son Finn has been here over the past couple of days with Go Active and he absolutely loves it, so I’ll definitely be booking more sessions for the Easter holidays”.

Ed concluded, “Today we have around 25 children of all age ranges which is fantastic.  We find that the club really helps them socially and physically, making new friends and taking part in some great fit and fun activities.  At the beginning of the session we break the club down into two or three smaller aged based groups, giving all children of similar age the opportunity to mix and participate.  We’re hosting another holiday club over Easter at the college and places can be booked via our website”.
