Level 3 Nail Services students at Cornwall College Camborne recently took part in a Creative Nail Design competition in koko nail bar, to showcase the skills learnt so far on their one year course.
For the Creative Nail Design module, the students had to choose a theme, create a design board explaining the inspiration behind their designs, and then set to work on the final design which they have been working on tirelessly since December.
Chosen themes included Nightmare Before Christmas, Cornish Myths & Legends, Wind in the Willows, Cinderella, Disney Through The Years, the 70s, Edward Scissorhands, Supergirl, Christmas and Tinkerbell.
Lisa Clarke, Health & Wellbeing Director at Cornwall College, Samantha Hale from CND, a global leader in nail products and services, Chrissie Pearce, owner of a nail studio in Pool, Camborne plus ex Camborne student Sophie Butcher, who runs a nail, hair and beauty salon called Exquisite with her mother in Pool, had the pleasure of judging the students designs on the day.
Lisa Clarke said: “this was such a challenging competition to judge as all of the designs were incredible. The students have worked so hard and should be very proud of what they’ve achieved. Our final decision was first place went to Bianca Hyett for her Christmas theme, Sarah Hartley was second with Wind in the Willows and third place went to Claire Dakin with Edward Scissorhands”.
Beauty Lecturer Tasha Carpenter added: “I’d like to congratulate all of the students that took part in the competition, and of course thank the models that the students arranged to come in and wear the designs for the day. The designs will be available in a display cabinet in koko for anybody who would like to come and view them”.
