A charity lunch held at Cornwall College’s Cloisters Restaurant has raised over £1000 for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Organised by the St Austell Fundraising Group and a collaboration with the staff and students at Cornwall College’s Cloisters Restaurant, the restaurant was full and guests enjoyed a wonderful three-course lunch.
Chair of the St Austell Fundraising Group, Angela Hurst thanked everyone for supporting the event:
“We’ve held this event for many years now and it’s always a great success – thanks to those who attend and to the college students for their professionalism and hard work.”
Foundation Learning students from “The View” College Café took this opportunity to present a cheque for £300 to Angela and the fundraising group. This had been raised from second hand book sales and their collection tin filled with loose change from their customers, taking the total raised on the day to over £1,000.
Matt Bird, Cloisters Manager said how honoured the college was to have hosted this charity event:
“All the food has been cooked by Level 2 and Level 3 Professional Cookery students, whilst the restaurant was managed and staffed by our Food & Beverage Supervision students.”
“We welcome many guests at our award winning restaurant over the course of the year and it’s always a privilege to be a part of charity events which fundraise for such worthy causes. We wish them every success in the rest of their fundraising efforts through the year” he added.
