The next generation of Cornish chefs and restaurant managers are off to cook up a storm in London at the next stage of the AA College Restaurant of the Year 2019 Award.
Judging for this prestigious award, sponsored by People 1st International, is to be held on Thursday 20th June at Park Plaza County Hall in London.
The entire team and students at Cloisters Restaurant and Training Kitchens at Cornwall College St Austell are incredibly proud of getting to the finals according to Restaurant Manager, Matt Bird.
“We have been known for our excellent service and quality food for many years,” he said.
“We’re hoping we can showcase what we do to help young people gain the skills that they need to achieve a successful career in the hospitality sector.”
Two students have been picked to represent the college and they will have a total of 10 minutes to impress the judges along with the support of their lecturers Matt and Kieran.
Hospitality student and former Poltair pupil, Alice Eade is one of the students going to London along with her tutors to give a presentation to the panellists.
“I’m really looking forward to going to London to represent my fellow students and the college, it will be great to share the skills I’ve learned that will help me in my future career,” she explained.
“I’m really looking forward to touring a London Hotel and getting an idea of what it must be like to work in a busy London hotel.”
The Cloisters Team will be up against 14 other national college restaurants including Cornwall College’s other Restaurant ‘Trevenson’, which is in Camborne.
