Falmouth Marine School will be opening its doors to prospective students and their families this weekend.
The college will be open from 10am until 12 noon on Saturday 2nd November, offering the perfect opportunity for those who attend to get a feel for student life, meet staff, students, explore the various departments and gather information on the various courses on offer.
Advice and guidance will be provided on finance, accommodation, courses and qualifications in boatbuilding, marine engineering and marine science from Level 2 to degree study.
Falmouth Marine School is the only college in Cornwall to offer specialist provision in dedicated subjects linked to our oceans, coastline and inshore waterways.
Head of Campus, Falmouth Marine School, Bob Harris, said, “Further Education for school leavers is an “essential progression route after school” that helps direct students to a wide variety of career opportunities.
“Our ethos is to provide the best learning environment, deliver quality training programmes and help nurture individual development,” he revealed.
“This all starts with inviting young people on to campus to discover the courses on offer, to chat with curriculum staff and to see the amazing facilities.”
Deputy Head of Campus, Falmouth Marine School. Steve Taylor added, “We are a specialist college that offers entry-level to degree-level courses, including apprenticeships, many of which are not offered anywhere else in the county.
“The building here has been transformed and we can now boast some world class facilities including our Marine Biology department which is one of the largest college aquatic research facilities in the UK.
“Our ethos is about making learning work, so we want to help students develop, not only the right qualifications, but to help them gain real employability skills and experiences. This is an opportunity for students of all ages to come and explore what is on offer at Falmouth Marine School and we look forward to welcoming visitors.”
Bob concluded, “If the end-goal is to progress to university level study, The Cornwall College Group has more students graduate with us than any other college in Cornwall, cementing our status as a leading college in the county to study a degree.”
