Students from Cornwall College Saltash are holding a charity gig, ‘Let’s Have an Elfin’ Good Time!’ at Saltash Social Club on the 9th December. The event starts at 7pm and is in aid of three well-known children’s charities; Barnardo’s, Jeremiah’s Journey and Elodie’s Story.
The Access to Higher Education students have organised this event as part of their course which includes a module focused on group work and team management. Local band ‘LMG One’ will lead the gig along with two vocal singers, an auction and a raffle.
Access to Health & Social Care student, Suzanne Mctaggart, said: “We have chosen these three amazing children’s charities to help raise awareness locally for the fantastic work they do. We wanted to organise a fun event, suitable for all the family with a Christmas theme. I am really enjoying the course, it is great to have the opportunity to link in events such as these.”
Fellow Access to Health & Social Care student, Hannah Howlend, said: “If you like live music, raffles and supporting charities then it would be great to see you at our event. Tickets are £2.50 per person and can be purchased on the night.”
Lecturer for Access to Higher Education at Cornwall College Saltash, Norma Barrett, said: “The students have planned a fantastic evening of music and fun which will, hopefully, raise much needed funds for local children’s charities. They are fully committed to this event which has proved an innovative and exciting way to achieve part of their overall course requirements. I wish them every success on the night and hope that the local community benefits from their hard work.”
