Local celebrity chef Jaque Marchell has opened a new pop up restaurant facility at Cornwall College Saltash, in front of a specially invited audience.
The new new pop up restaurant has been named after the Cornish word for welcome, ‘Dynnargh’ and is open for the local community to use. It’s hoped that the pop facility will become a permanent fixture in the future serving high quality meals produced by the College’s Professional Cookery students.
Chef, Jaque Marchell, said: “It is great to see this new facility at Cornwall College Saltash. The staff and students here are fantastic. I first met lecturer Chris Penk about four years ago, straight away I saw his enthusiasm, I enjoy working with young people and I wanted to be involved with the College.”
Level 1 Hospitality student, Anna Ingall, said: “I have really enjoyed be part of the opening of ‘Dynnargh’ today and playing an active part in the event. The course so far has been great, I am learning lots of different skills that are needed for different tasks. I would definitely recommend the course to other students.”
Team Lead for Hospitality and Professional Cookery at Cornwall College Saltash, Chris Penk, said: “This new facility that we can now offer is further enhancing our reputation as being the best Catering College in the South West. The ambience and comfort the pop up restaurant offers customers matches the professionalism our students offer.”
Director of Cultural & Visitor Economy at TCCG, Miriam Venner, said: “Our hospitality team in Saltash have demonstrated an energy and enthusiasm for really ‘making learning work’ by establishing a great new restaurant. Our students will now be able to gain real work experience by providing high quality dining for our local community.”
