Professional Cookery students cook up a storm onstage

Plymouth’s Flavour Fest foodie lovers were treated to a magnificent array of cookery demonstrations at the weekend.

The largest free food and drink celebration in the South West was busy with those looking for inspiration and the chance to taste lots of delicious samples.

As stand sponsors and event partners, staff and students from Cornwall College Saltash joined these cookery demonstrations on the main stage, illustrating their professional preparation and cooking skills while confirming why it is recognised as one of the best Catering & Hospitality College in the UK.

Former Marine Academy Plymouth student Cory McNeil, who is taking the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Professional Cookery, said the event “had a good buzz.”

“It was my second year working at Flavour Fest and it was great to have the opportunity to speak to businesses in industry,” Corey continued.

“I am about to complete my Level 3 and I have really enjoyed my time at Cornwall College Saltash. One of the highlights of the course for me was the amount of opportunities we got to work at events such as Flavour Fest.”

The College holds a Gold Accreditation, 3 Centre’s of Excellence and an AA Highly Recommended College Rosette, making it only one of two college in the UK to hold such status.

Team Lead for Professional Cookery at Cornwall College Saltash, Chris Penk, said Flavour Fest “is a high profile event that allows our students to show off their techniques to lots of people.”

“It is the perfect opportunity for us to promote the opportunities we have for anyone interested in Catering or Hospitality,” Chris continued.

“Our awards are a true recognition of what we stand for when it comes to education, industry links and employability skills.”
