Sport and Fitness enthusiast are invited to booked sessions at a Sports Massage Clinic open to the public on Wednesday evenings at the College.
There are three sessions available, one with Level four students who are able to treat sports specific injuries – 6.15pm and two sessions are available with Level three students who can provide maintenance massage; pre, post and inter event at 6.15pm and 7.45pm.
Neila Dawes, a current Level 3 student said how this course has allowed her to expand her business from just beauty and complementary therapy treatments to now including sports massage; “There is a huge demand and my client base is growing fast!”
Cecily Hislop has moved on to the Level 4 qualification, said “It’s a fantastic course, with great teachers and the real clinic experience and case studies we complete mean that I am ready to confidently expand my business as soon as I am qualified.”
Kym O’Mara, Lead for Sport and Fitness explained that the students are also looking for work placements and are open to supporting sporting events;
“This could be a great opportunity for local clubs to reap the benefits that a sports masseur can do for performance and rehabilitation of injured sports-persons”
