Students have teamed up with Vertical Blue in Porthleven to run a charity paddleboard and Kayak event to raise money for Surfers against sewage.

The Marine Science students from Falmouth Marine School have to organise an event as part of their studies.

Student Darren Sutton said they wanted to “make the most of the opportunity and support a great local charity”.

“Surfers against Sewage have driven for better protection for the seas for many years with some amazing results,” he continued.

“As a group we are all very passionate about the ocean and its protection for the future.”

The event will take place this Saturday, 28th April from 12 – 5pm at Porthleven harbour.  The cost is £10 per person with all proceeds going to the charity.

In addition to paddleboarding and kayaking there will be mega paddleboard races with beach and seas cleans.  All equipment will be provided but if participants have their own wetsuit they are encouraged to bring it.
