A spectacular event will be music to people’s ears on the 24th of May at the Keay Theatre, St Austell.
The event is called ‘You Should Be Dancing’ because the College Band ‘Turquoise Zebra’ plays a disco set during their performances.
Music Lecturer Laura Philpott said; “My students have been working really hard to organise every part of this event and have prepared some high-quality material to perform. Thanks to our staff and students, ‘You Should Be Dancing’ is set to be a fantastic event that will showcase an array of young musical talent.”
She continued; “This year Cornwall College will be joined by Brannel School, Looe Community Academy and Penrice Academy, with vast musical repertoire varying from Ska to Disco.”
Jazz Summers who is in charge promoting the evening said; “This will be great event due to the range of musical talent from the College in St Austell and other schools around Cornwall.”
“All bands involved will be performing popular music from a range of genres, such as Ska and Disco. It will be a family fun event for all ages and it is set to be a very enjoyable evening.”
Band singer Chloe Jarvis said; “Coordinating and performing in this event is a great opportunity for me and the rest of the group to allow us to experience every aspect of planning a musical evening, including event management and sound and lighting organisation.”
Drummer Josh Rowe explained that an event of this scale is “a great opportunity because it gives us experience in all areas of the music not just in performing.”
Josh added; “Being able to play at this event will be brilliant and I cannot wait to perform with young musicians from around Cornwall.”
The show starts at 7pm with a 15-minute interval where refreshments will be served; tickets are £7/£5.
