Learning Adviser Teams

If you are a FE student and you have significant concerns or support needs that your tutors can’t help with, a Senior Learning Adviser will be available to talk it through and investigate any issues if necessary. These issues may be about your studies, personal concerns, or the kinds of support you are receiving at college. There is a Senior Learning Adviser for each of our campuses and they will be happy to help you where needed.

If you are a FE student aged 16-18 you will also have a Personal Learning Adviser (PLA) to guide you through your learning and provide you with personal support and mentoring. Your PLA will oversee all parts of your study programme and they will also work closely with your subject specialist tutors to help you achieve your goals.

If you are an HE student you will have a Personal Tutor who will be your first point of contact for academic and personal support. In addition, you will also have an HE Senior Tutor who will work with you and your course team to ensure you are able to access additional wider personal and academic support and will be happy to provide additional support and guidance as needed. For more complex support queries, talk to our Disability Adviser – disabilityadviser@cornwall.ac.uk.

Financial Support

We have a dedicated team on each campus who can advise you on all of the financial support packages that may be available to you while you learn with us. The team can help you to apply for:

  • student bursaries
  • guaranteed bursaries
  • free college meals
  • childcare support funding
  • transport bursaries
  • disabled student allowances
  • accommodation bursaries

Health & Welfare

If you’re going to do well in your studies, it’s important that you’re happy, healthy and safe. So if you do find yourself in difficulties we have experienced advisers to help address your needs. If you need it, we can help you with:

  • Up-to-date information on health matters
  • Contact with outside agencies (such as a counselling service)
  • Contact with local doctors

Every campus has a Student Liaison Officer, who can support you in these areas as well as co-ordinating local Student Union activities and events.

Safeguarding

Making sure that you are safe and enjoying your life at college is really important to us – so it’s at the centre of all our planning. Everyone here at college has an important role to play in safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and preventing abuse. All our staff complete compulsory safeguarding training and we have Safeguarding Officers for each of our campuses and off site provision. We work with our Safeguarding Children Partnership and the Safeguarding Adults Board to create a strong Safeguarding Policy.
